Note that the recording of the drawing is unavailable, but we congratulate the winners listed below. Thank you all who participated to assist the Archdiocese scholarship fund.
To all who attended the telephone conference, please send the information reported at the meeting for posting here and access to all Sodalists.
Have a blessed Holy Week. See Pray With Us page for information about online Masses.
March 2020 Letter from the President
Dear Prefects and Moderators:
God bless us doing these trying and uncertain times. The entrance antiphon for today's Mass is very apropos for the situation we are experiencing - "As for me, I trust in the Lord. Let me be glad and rejoice in your mercy, for you have seen my affliction." (Ps.31) Pope Francis' Prayer re. the coronavirus is on the Sociality Union website.
As you know, because of restrictions imposed to stop the spread of the coronavirus, we cannot hold the April General Meeting at Holy Comforter/St. Cyprian Church. However, we will conduct a meeting via conference call. The meeting is scheduled for April 4, 2020, at 9:00 AM. Please join the meeting by calling (425} 436-6308, Access Code 859041#.
Normally, the James Cardinal Hickey Scholarship Raffle is held at the April meeting. The Raffle will be held as scheduled, but in an abbreviated manner. The raffle will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church at Noon; it will be recorded and a limited number of Soda lists will witness the raffle.
The Nominations and Election Committee is assembling a slate of candidates for the election of officers for 2020-2022 Sodality years. The Bylaws permit the nomination of candidates at the April meeting. If you wish to nominate a Sodalist(s) for the President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer positions, you may do so during the April 4 meeting; self-nomination is permitted. The information required with the nomination, viz., a biographical sketch and a recommendation from the pastor should be available for immediate delivery to the Committee. Thank you for your help with this important requirement.
At the February General Meeting, Maxine Hart, Chairperson of Jr. Sodality, stated that plans were underway for a tribute for mothers at the May General Meeting. Because of the current conditions, that activity is being postponed.
Because of the coronavirus the Annual Lenten Retreat had to be cancelled. Helen Awatefe, Spiritual Life Chairperson, is working with Treasurer Edna Jacobs to refund payments made for Retreat.
We are continuing with plans for the June 6, 2020, General Meeting and the Commission of Officers Biennial Luncheon. That meeting is scheduled be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 3800 Ely Place, SE, Washington, DC 20019. Tickets for the luncheon will be available at the May General Meeting; the cost is $35.00. Joyce Thomas, Hospitality Chairperson, is the contact for the luncheon.
Remembering that we are in the protective arms of Mary, I look forward to speaking with you during the conference call on April 4.
REMINDER: 2-YEAR REPORTS FOR THE SODALIST AND THE BIENNIAL REPORT ARE DUE BY MAY 23, 2020.
BLESSING TO ALL SODALISTS
AND THEIR FAMILIES
this Lenten Season and special blessings this Palm Sunday

Words shared by Sodalist Lynn Hill: It’s exciting that so many of you have accepted the opportunity to be consecrated to Mary. As Sodalists we recognize that the surest way to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is through His Immaculate Mother. Father Michael Gaitley’s “33 Days to Morning Glory” is a wonderful book . . . .
Father Gaitley calls his updated and simple book “a Marian consecration for the Third Millennium. Each week the book focuses on a different saint who lived and wrote about his/her devotion to Mary. On your journey to Jesus through Mary, you’ll read and ponder messages from St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximillan Kolbe, Blessed Mother Teresa, and St. Pope John Paul II. The last five days contain a review of the writings.

The Month of MARY
We thank our May host parishes St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Holy Angels Catholic Church for the beautiful Crowning of Mary and the warm southern Maryland welcome!
This year's Lenten journey we were inspired by the words we received from Father Sass at the Retreat to go forth with courage--beyond the retreat--and ask ourselves, "what is the cross in my life?" We are to make time the remainder of this Lenten season to contemplate this so that when we kiss the cross on Good Friday, we may have clarity of that cross. "Yes, I am afraid of this cross," but with complete trust we will turn to our merciful and gracious Lord who will take us out of this fear of the cross on Easter Sunday! Yes, I believe in the Resurrection! Father's resounding closing words at the retreat: GOD LOVES YOU!

At the March General Meeting at Nativity Catholic Church we were blessed with a warm, vibrant and spiritually rich talk by our guest speaker Carol Monaco of Our Lady of Bethesda and Editor/Writer of Journey to Our Lady in publication for over ten years. We thank Carol with our prayerful gratitude for sharing a written copy of her presentation available below. As we approach the 100th Anniversary of Fatima's first apparition, Carol opened our hearts, inviting us with her words, to like Mary. embrace "all that Our Lady holds dear--God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit," and reminding us that "our mission" is to pray and do good works for the rest of our lives." Enjoy!
Also in March, it was a weekend of blessings for all who attended this year's Lenten Retreat at the Washington Retreat House, with Fr. Pawel Sass, Retreat Master. It was a special time of friendship, prayer, Reconciliation, and Eucharistic celebration.
Theme: Reconciliation, Renewal ... Embracing the Forgiveness
of the Risen Lord
Do not fear anything. It is to keep you in peace that I place [a] priest between your soul
and Myself. The words he will speak to you are My words. Reveal to him your
soul’s greatest secrets. I will give him light to know your soul (Diary, 232).
